High Line Park

What and where is High Line Park?

The High Line is an elevated park on Manhattan’s West Side, built on a former freight rail line. Stretching from the Meatpacking District to Hudson Yards, it combines native plantings, public art, and scenic views of the city. As a model of sustainable urban design, it offers visitors a calm, immersive experience above the busy streets. The park encourages slow travel and reflection, connecting people to both nature and history in a uniquely urban setting.

Eco-Friendly Practices

The High Line showcases sustainability and urban renewal through native landscaping, green infrastructure, and public art in a repurposed elevated rail line.

Green Roof Design: Functions as a green roof, reducing stormwater runoff and urban heat.

Native Plantings: Features native, drought-resistant plants that support local wildlife and require minimal irrigation.

Composting: All plant waste is composted on-site, producing around 90 cubic yards of compost annually.
